FAQ

  • What is Pilates?

Pilates is a full-body movement system designed to build strength, flexibility, and control - starting at your core and supporting every part of your body. It’s low-impact, highly effective, and meant to help you move better in your everyday life, as well as during your workouts.

At SPARK, we honor Pilates as a true system created by Joseph Pilates, not just a trend. While “Pilates-inspired” fitness focuses on intensity or aesthetics, we focus on mindful, functional movement that meets you where you’re at. Pilates is for every body, every age, and every season of life—and we’re here to help you feel stronger, more balanced, and at home in your body.

  • How do I sign up for class or private sessions?

You can sign up HERE on MindBody. If this is your first class you’ll need to book an Introductory Session before being cleared for any group classes. The best way to book your Introductory Session is via email ari@sparkpilatesstudio.com or on MindBody.

  • Do I have to book an Introductory Session?

Yes! It is so important to get to know YOUR body, how it moves, and your level of experience, before you jump into any classes. We require an Introductory Session, offered at a discounted price, to get a better understanding of your long term goals, how your body moves, any restrictions you may have, and introduce you to the principles of Pilates. After your session is completed, we can better assess beginning group classes or continuing with private sessions.

  • What should I expect during an Introductory Session?

Introductory Sessions are always a private one-on-one consultation. Come ready for a workout; water in hand and clothes you feel comfortable moving in. During your consultation, we assess your body’s specific needs and familiarize you with the fundamentals of Pilates. We want to get to know your goals and how Pilates may play a part in reaching those goals!

  • Why do I have to take an Introductory Session even if I have Pilates experience?

We are a boutique studio and keep our classes intimate in size so that we can ensure everyBODY is supported and set up for success. The Introductory Session gives us the opportunity to find which level classes might be best for you and how we can better support you along your SPARK Pilates journey!

  • What should I wear and bring to class?

We suggest wearing form-fitting yet comfortable attire. Alignment is integral to Pilates and this allows our instructors to help make corrections or give modifications when needed. While not mandatory, we do highly recommend grippy socks for both private and group classes. They provide better traction on the equipment and help maintain cleanliness. We have water coolers here at the studio so make sure to bring a water bottle.

  • Are there age requirements?

Pilates is for everyBODY; words we live by here at the studio. Classes are open to ages 16 and older. There are no requirements or restrictions to join the studio; only that you start with the one-on-one Introductory Sessions.

  • What if I need to cancel?

Just let us know! We have a 24hr cancellation policy for private sessions and 12hr cancellation policy for group classes to avoid being charged the full amount as a late cancellation. You can cancel through MindBody, phone call or text (423-277-5856) or email your instructor.

  • What are the pricing options?

You can pay per class, or buy a 10 class package for Private Sessions, Mat Classes and/or Reformer Classes. We do NOT do monthly membership charges and have multiple pricing options to make it accessible and affordable. See pricing on our Services page HERE or on MindBody HERE.
